The carving is made by Newaris, an ancient tribe of Nepal. It takes intricate detail to make this piece. In his upper right hand Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha’s left hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.
Ganesh by Hindu tradition is the son of Shiva and Parvati. He is known to be the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.
